This paper attempts to provide a descriptive analysis of the
current delivery system of public health care services in remote
rural areas in order to identify overriding problems and to clarify
the contextual variables related to improving the delivery
systems. The following questions are therefore relevant:
1) To what extent are health care services readily available
to residents in remote rural areas?
2) What are structural characteristics of the public health
delivery system for rural areas and how does it work in
the present context of remote rural communities?
3) What are contextual variables which determine the
performance level of the public health delivery system?
4) What are alternative solutions in terms of structural
adjustment for improving the public health delivery
