*** About the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) ***
Knowledge is a major driving force for innovation and growth. Its importance has especially drawn keen attention as a crucial means to overcome the limitations of conventional aid and boost the effectiveness of development through partnership, ownership, and capacity development. Knowledge sharing offers opportunities for countries to mutually learn from each other’s development experiences, contributes to the achievement of development initiatives worldwide including the Sustainable Development Goals, and promotes co-prosperity and improved quality of life.
From its establishment in 1948, Korea was a recipient of official development assistance, but its transformation into a developed economy and a world leader set the foundation for self-sustaining growth and evolution of its economic and social structures. Korea’s successes and failures pose invaluable lessons for partner countries for helping them tackle development challenges and promote sustainable growth.
For this purpose, the Ministry of Economy and Finance in 2004 launched the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) to fulfill rising demand for applying policy implications from the Korean development model to spread sustainable prosperity abroad. Korea has since served as a leading knowledge sharer by conducting the KSP with over 100 countries and 12 international organizations.
