Although the impact of workweek reduction on various labor market outcomes has been discussed by many scholars, surprisingly little effort has been made for understanding how it affects firm productivity. Exploiting variation in timings of workweek reduction across manufacturing establishments in Korea, we estimate the impact of workweek reduction on establishment-level productivity in Korean manufacturing industry. We find tentative but suggestive evidence for a conclusion that workweek reduction improves productivity of the manufacturing establishments.
